Description

SVG is a language for describing 2D vector graphics in XML. Therefore, SVG files are saved in a text format, but can be viewed as images in supporting graphics programs.

The SVG standard is developed by the SVG Working Group. It serves as both an image format and a programming API for graphic-based applications. Adobe is known as the largest contributor to the development of the SVG standard, but several other companies have also helped author the format.
