No Y2K Worries This Year

December 24, 2000 — by Per Christensson

Around this time last year, children were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of Y2K disasters danced in their heads. Fortunately, the apocalypse didn't come and the holiday season went smoothly after all. This year, there are no Y2.001K worries and no crazed doomsayers running around trying to ruin the holidays for us. Instead, we can peacefully take a break from our hectic daily schedules and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas -- the day Christ was born.

It is also a good time to realize the joy of giving and to be thankful for the things we have. This has been especially relevant to me this year, having lost 97% of my savings in the stock market. Sometimes things don't always go the way we hope they will. Still, I have more than enough to get by, and though I don' t have the money for a lot of things, I do have enough so that I can give to others. There are a lot of people who can't even say that. Merry Christmas.
