Put Your Phone Away

This Christmas season, you can give others the gift of eye contact. Perhaps, at least for a few weeks, you can attempt to socialize with your friends and family without constantly checking your phone.

While it may seem impossible, you can avoid checking your phone every few minutes by leaving it in your purse or pocket, or even in another room. Even if you don't check your phone for a few hours, the world probably won't end.

Many people complain about how other people are always staring at their phones, when in fact they do the same thing. It's an insidious habit that creeps into our lives without us knowing it. The holidays are a great time to consciously put away your smartphone (or tablet) and focus on communicating with those who are physically present with you.
