Description

A CRDOWNLOAD file is temporary file created by Google Chrome when a file is downloaded within the web browser. It serves as a placeholder while the file is being downloaded. As the download progresses, the size of the CRDOWNLOAD file continues to grow. When the download completes, the ".crdownload" extension is automatically removed and is replaced with the original file extension.

Since CRDOWNLOAD files contain incomplete data, they are not meant to be opened manually. Additionally, double-clicking a CRDOWNLOAD file will not automatically resume the download if it has been paused. Instead, if you find a CRDOWNLOAD file in your Downloads folder, you should open Chrome, then select Window → Downloads. You can then click "Resume" next to the partially downloaded file to resume the download.
