Description

A MOD file is a song saved in the "music module" format. It contains a collection of sound samples and a list of note patterns that make up the song composition.

The MOD format first became popular on Amiga systems and was later used for video game music on other platforms. MOD files can be played back on a PC using a music program called a "tracker," such as FastTracker or CocoModX.
