Program written for Apple iOS devices such as the iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad; downloaded from the Apple iTunes App Store and can be transferred to the iOS device via iTunes when the device is connected to the computer.

iOS applications include games, educational programs, finance and news programs, utilities, and other types of programs. IPA files can only be played on an iOS device, not on a computer.

IPA files are typically stored in the /Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications/ directory. They are saved in a .ZIP format and can be decompressed with any Zip decompression utility.
