Description

Ogg Vorbis is an open source audio encoding and streaming technology used for compressing audio files.

OGG files can be played back using several different audio programs. Some examples include Apple QuickTime Player with the Xiph QuickTime Components (XiphQT) and VLC media player.

Important: "Ogg" refers to Xiph.org's container format for audio, video, and metadata. "Vorbis" is the name of the compression scheme applied to the audio data stored in the Ogg container.
