The XML Paper Specification (XPS) is an open, platform independent electronic paper format developed by Microsoft. It describes the layout of documents in a human-readable format that is also recognized by hardware and software. The standard format allows XPS documents to be shared between users without losing any page formatting information.
XPS support is integrated into the Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems, as well as Microsoft Office 2007. XPS documents can be viewed with the XPS Viewer, which is included with Internet Explorer 6 and later.
