How do I transfer an audio CD to an iPhone?

Answer: Have you ever wanted to play music from a CD on your iPhone? It's possible, but how do you transfer those songs from that circular plastic disc to your phone's flash memory?

You'll need a computer, optical drive (internal or external), and an iPhone. It's a little easier with a Mac, but you can do it with a Windows computer as well.

Just follow these steps:

  1. Connect the CD drive to your computer (if external).
  2. Place the compact disc in the drive.
  3. Open Apple Music (if it doesn't open automatically). On Windows PCs, you may need to download the free Apple Music app from the Microsoft Store.
  4. Click Import CD when prompted. Import CD with Apple Music This will copy the audio tracks from the CD to your computer.
  5. Sync the Apple Music library with your iPhone. If you're using a Mac, you can locate your phone in the sidebar of a Finder window and click the Sync button. If you have a Windows machine, you may need to use the Apple Devices app to sync the data. You can complete the sync via USB or perform it wirelessly if you have enabled wireless syncing in the app. Sync Music Library to iPhone Important: If you have a Mac and an iPhone, you may not have to sync the devices manually. If you wait a day, the music library changes will likely sync overnight.
  6. Open the Music app on your iPhone to view and play the music you imported from the CD.

Now you can listen to all those cool songs from the 90s! If you want to import music from cassette tapes or vinyl records, that will require analog to digital conversion, which will take a few more steps.
