The Database Integration Begins

Yeah, it's been awhile since the last update. However, I have been learning a lot about databases and PHP during the last couple of weeks. In fact, I just implemented the first PHP page into Sharpened.net. To see it for yourself, check The Search Page. The page loads a random joke from a database everytime you view/reload it. Cool. Sorry the jokes are pretty cheesy... Still, it works pretty well. I should be altering my site to be completely database-driven over the next couple of months. It should make make updates much easier.
I was planning on using a simple FileMaker database (which would be the easiest solution), but my server doesn't support it. So, I'm stuck using a mySQL database, which requires a lot more hand-coding. Oh well, I guess it's good experience. Anyway, once I get the hang of this database and PHP stuff, my web site should be much more dynamic and even more fun to visit than it already is (if that's possible). Stay tuned.
P.S. X-Men, the movie, was awesome. It was very true to the X-Men story and developed the characters and their relationships surprising well. The action was classic X-Men and there were plenty of surprises that kept the movie interesting. Even though you'll enjoy it more if you were an X-Men fan back in the day, I recommend it to everyone.
