Exercise More at Work

January 2022 — Tip of the Month

Disclaimer: I've never been a big fan of new year's resolutions. After all, if you need to change something, why wait until January 1st to change it? But since new year's resolutions are so popular, I have a suggestion for 2022:

Exercise more — at work.

Those of us who spend several hours a day working on a computer are familiar with neck and back pain. Our stiff, aching muscles remind us that our bodies are not meant to be stationary for long periods. But we remain at our desks, staring at our computers, day after day.

The good news is a few quick exercises can go a long way in preventing common aches and pains. Some of them, perhaps ironically, don't even require you to get out of your chair. Below are six neck exercises that you can do from the comfort of your office chair:

Office Chair Neck Stretch Exercises

Performing these exercises even once a day can help prevent neck stiffness and muscle tightness. Doing them every few hours is even better. If you want to avoid body aches altogether, make sure to stand up, walk around, and stretch your back every few hours too.

Instead of making the standard new year's resolution to work out more, you can start a new exercise plan at work.
