What does it mean when someone asks for your URL?

Answer: If someone asks for your URL, they want the web address of your profile or home page. If it's a personal request, they may wish to access your social media profile, such as your Facebook or LinkedIn page. If it's a business request, they most likely want the domain name of your organization's website, such as https://pc.net.

When responding to a URL request, you can send the person a link (typically beginning with https://), which they can click to visit your page. Some email clients and social media platforms automatically convert URLs to clickable links. If you want to make sure an email link is clickable, you can:

  1. Type the URL.
  2. Select the URL text.
  3. Copy the URL (Ctrl+C).
  4. Right-click the text and select "Add a link" from the contextual menu.
  5. Paste the URL you copied.
  6. Click OK.

▶ If you want to avoid typos and make sure you send the correct link, you can first visit the page in your web browser. Then select the URL from the address bar and follow steps 3-6 above.

Most social media platforms allow you to choose a personal URL. For example, if your name is "Tom Thompson," you can select "tom_thompson" as your custom URL (if it's not already taken). You can copy your profile's URL from the address bar or use the "Share Profile" button to copy it to your clipboard. Then, you can paste the URL in a message or email instead of typing it manually.
