Description |
TAB files are text files that contain a list of data, separated by tabs. There is typically one record per line, with a tab (the same as typing the "Tab" key) between each field.
TAB files may be exported by various programs as a universal format. They can be imported into other programs, such as spreadsheet and database applications. Since they store data in a standard text format, they can also be viewed with a text editor.
Tab Separated Data files are more commonly saved with a .TSV extension, which stands for Tab Separated Values.
