The JFIF raster image format is a minimal file format that allows bitstreams of JPEG data to be exchanged between multiple platforms and programs. It does not include advanced features, such as tagged headers, found in the .TIFF specification. JFIF version 1.02 and later can store thumbnails along with a larger image.

THE JFIF format is supported by many image viewing programs, but is not nearly as common as the .JPEG format.
