An LDS file is a script written for ld, a Linux application linker utility. It contains code written in the the Linker Command Language and may include variables, constants, functions, and other data.

LDS files are commonly named "vmlinux.lds" or "vmlinux.lds.S." They are typically located in the arch/[processor type]/kernel/ directory.
