Description

Session file format used by Pro Tools 7-9; includes audio, MIDI, and software instrument tracks; also includes audio effects, automations, and project settings; contains references to audio recordings, but does not store the actual audio data within the file.

PTF files are cross-platform, meaning they can be opened on both Windows and Macintosh computers. However they are not backwards compatible with previous versions of Pro Tools.

Important: Pro Tools 10 uses the .PTX format for sessions.
