Description

The SMI format was a popular disk image format used in Mac OS Classic. It was used to store collections of folders and files in a single mountable archive.

SMI files could be created with Apple Disk Copy, Aladdin ShrinkWrap, or Make SMI in Mac OS 9. They are no longer used since the SMI format was replaced by the .DMG format in Mac OS X.

Description

A SMIL presentation is a slide show created using the Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL). It contains references to audio and video files that are displayed in sequence and may also include text that is shown during the presentation.

The SMIL specification is published by the W3C and is designed for authoring interactive audiovisual presentations.
