Description

Configuration file for a VMware Fusion, a program that allows Windows to run on a Mac; stores settings selected in the virtual machine settings editor or the New Virtual Machine Wizard; also includes information about supported virtual hardware and various other settings.

VMX files are saved in a text format and are typically stored within the .VMWAREVM package. The settings within the VMX file may be edited with a text editor.

Important: If the virtual machine was created with an earlier version of VMware Workstation on a Linux machine, the configuration file may have a .CFG extension.
